Indian Film Song Lyrics
I cannot resist Graphjam so here we are. Indian Film song lyrics explained with simple graphs. I promise, this will be the second last time I will be “inspired” (like Anu Malik) to remix a popular Internet meme for desi purposes.
First we explore the Hindi Film Industry, or as Cineblitz chooses to acronymize, HiFI

more than anything, i love the benny lava one!
you promised thisd be the second last time ud do this…. is that some sort of recursive statement? because im sure it wont be…
never mind abt the last line… ippo than bulbing. ore funny!
that’s more like it!
enna oru form, orey shaking shaking you are….
loved each of them and the #FFFFFF was fab, more such ones plz.
leave religion to odavakarapayyans
OMG Succha nice visualisation! Hats off to you (why just hats? shirt, pant, shoes, socks too)
PS: I gmailed you. If my message is not inboxed, its probably spammed. Ah so much verbization!
Hahaha, awesome. Loved the Meena and Vijay one!
Soopper doopper post – absolutely fantastic! I have also started graphjamming now thanks to you, but your creativity is out of the world.
the last 2 posts from you (this and swamijis & science) is like 2 consecutive centuries – one in test match and then in T20. Rajesh Khanna, Govinda, 1942 and Thaliavar’s oru koodai sunlight … ellamey, only Blogosphere mannan, KA can create!
awesomely innovative!
Haha. The dilemma for getting impregnated was funny.
Haha Superb. Please, let this not be your last one on graphjam.
rofl!
)
Party locations was super, and so was Rajesh Khanna’s algorithms
OMG! I’ve never laughed this hard at a blogpost! Esp love the Superstar’s color!
Pls let this not be the second last — let’s have many more for decades to come.
This is wonderful. Govinda is nothing in front of our own TR! You gotta do the next piece on him.
i have never had such fun reading a post of urs…u have beaten urself…one of ur best…but dint understand the benny lava chart…if u can enlighten me would be great!
It’s an internet phenomenon – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZA1NoOOoaNw
Fundoo macchan!
hey, apparently nakka mukka doesnt mean tongue and nose…. it’s Onomatopoeia apparently – the sound made by the drum or something. just like dandanaka or jigu jickan.
I know
Chumma unnecessary onomatopoeic misinterpretation thaan
Brilliance! This graphjam is really cool. I feel like some watcher of the skies when a new planet swims into his ken, or Cortez, when he, with eagle eyes, stared at his 19″ LCD monitor.
Each one is a masterpiece, but the “locked in the room” gets my Oscar
Longtime lurker, couldn’t hold it in – these are FABULOUS. Besh.
what a dilemma sir
Pure awesomeness !!
Amazing stuff sir.You never cease to amaze us.
Amaicharae;
oralu onnu angu irukka, olakka onnu ingu irukka;
nellu kuthum neram yedhu solladi yen chitiramae
yenna arumaiyana thatthuvam — idhai ivttu vittayae
Shyam
nakka mukka rocks!
Are you still addicted to ‘benny lava’ ?
Too good!
I loved the April Madathil, So gaya (nice touch with “all destinations”) and Superstar was lovely.
Which song was Heisenberg’s?
It’s the slightly location-confused
Nazar ke saamne,
Jigar ke paas,
koi rehtha hai,
woh ho tum
Althought doesn’t jigar mean gut? Even if it does, I think your near-the-liver has it covered.
Ashok: Actually, Jigar does literally mean “liver”. In Urdu, the liver is the metaphorical gut/heart etc
Brilliant! is the word.. And Rajesh Khanna’s algo!! Chance eh illa..
Giving another dimension to song visualization, are we
OMG! Damn hilarious man! Never though Graphjam could be so useful!
Absolutely loved it! Loved the Govinda cares about image!
Best. Post. Ever.
I am ROTFL in the office now. Unfortuantely do not know Tamil hence cannot enjoy the Tamilones. I understood the Benny Lava just because of Youtube.
Krish it would be nice if you can add youtube links to all the songs… am asking too much, but then I dint get a few of them
It will kill the fun of trying to identify the songs. I will update the post with links a little later
How about displaying the ’solutions’ using xkcd-style mouse-over text?
Hi Ashok,
ROTFL was just an acronym for a phrase up until now! Oh my God!! How do you even think up such things!
Unfortunately, I’m not in touch with Tamil songs so that was pretty much Greek & Latin; The Hindi songs were superb, though.
PS: Which one was “Who should Govinda give his heart to?”
Pure brilliance!!! More brilliant than Chacha Chowdhary!
Ha ha ha ha, I simply cannot bring myself to type anything more as I simply cannot control my laughter.
Creative genius at its best!!!
just another random reader… caught on about benny lava only after your post…
jus 1 thing… prabhu deva ku indha matter pathi theriyuma?
Hehehe…too good! Especially “fast asleep” and “Rajesh Khanna’s algorithm”
)
Awesome!
But, I dint get the Govinda and his admirers one. And of course the Tamil ones.
Benny Lava rocked though!
PS – what exactly does Jilpa mean? None of my frnds have been able to enlighten me.
Appaaaa!
Jesht too much!
I loved Kalyaanadhaan Kattikittuh… Naakuh Mookuh, Where is the paarty! and the Shivaji Sunlight Song
Jeanious you are ra!
Seriously!
How simplified they are…These Tamil songs!
I bow to you lord of humour….this is amazing….can we have lyrics and pointers to original songs for those who dont understand Tamil
Great Post though my knowledge of Tamil is fairly limited.
http://www.websnacker.blogspot.com
hahaha…man u r master of both…lyrics n statistics…dis give a totally new dimension to hindi songs…n may be…u can inspire A NEW MALIK also…
Awesome!!
Whatay okkamokka sooper post! Totally LoLified by it.
But a small prablem…. I am not getting a benny lava song… Whats a it?
Saari for the slight mistake…found the song.
pWned watching the video… Too much!
LOL @ Rajesh Khanna!
Class act!
Great post!!
I was ROFL after reading Party Location Probabilities. Keep up the good work.:)
Outstanding post….ROTFLOL… Just loved Vikram-Trisha & Rajesh Khanna graphs …
Pls do a sequel to this post…
Funny funny funny,
Graphs better than the Ghajini post.
OMG! Ha..ha.. This is classic. Algorithm dedicated to Rajesh Khanna. LOL
This is the hawt post on wordpress. Came through that link.
Ausum!
One of the few times when I wished I knew Tamil
Some of the Hindi songs were in-your-face whlist I pondered over some time to get the others
I was scratching my hair out trying to figure ‘Cuckoo X 8′ when at long last, enlightenment dawned upon me whilst I was in the bus…I almost screamed out ‘Eureka’
Keep’em coming…and am definitely mailing u few ‘ve thot up!
Comparing with ‘really asleep’ for ‘all destinations’, it should be ‘Lamp lit in templeeeeeeee’ for the first one
Thassabrill. Kalyanam thaan kattikittu odi polama was brilliant. The Govinda ones were fab. Graphjam is brilliant.
you’ve outdone yourself yet again dude !!!
!!!
The Rajesh Khanna algo was the best
speechless.
rolling on the floor, tears streaming out, laughing hysterically.. and umm, speechless..
Top Tucker LOL Stuff. Loved Govinda and Cuckoo x 8 Graphs
ROFL. Insanity!! (Didn’t get the Amitabh/Anganey one). Addicted to Graph Jam
This is hilarious!
A really really long time lurker .. This time couldnt stop myself! You rock KA! Except Benny Lava I could figure out all of them.. Fantabulous…. Pls pls dont stop!
the superstar crack .. LOL
Simbly Superb! Too hilarious for words. However, did not get Govinda’s “Who should I give my heart to?” and some of the tamizh songs. The sooner you send us the link, the better.
Sooooper baa!!!!!!
my faves have to be Rajesh Kanna’s algo of life, and Pettai Rap
Hilarious and truly original. This is the only way to learn math.
All high school teachers should follow your method.
Suggestion: “Chrome” in the Pettai Rap graph should be substituted by “Corom”.
Also, how about including one on Rajkumar’s famous “Eef you come today”?
this is awesome
Awesome!!! Hey someone should give all the song names corresponding to the graphs… For ppl like me who didnt get all the answers!
What songs are govinda giving his heart, and bandhan???
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWdUNZ8TWFo
Brilliant!
For those of you wondering about Guru Govinda’s song “Who should I give my heart to?”
“Kitne Anaar yahan, Kitne Bimaar yahan, yeh dil mein kis kis ko doon?”
Now the second part of the song is the ‘Pant bhi sexy’ and oh yeah..it is is very graphic
You outdid yourself this time
Let’s see you top this one.
-
a long time reader turned ko.pa.se
Here is one of mine: http://mine.icanhascheezburger.com/view.aspx?ciid=3694333
OMG!! Hilarious!!
:D:D
:D
I just cant stop laughing!! especially the “kalyanam dhaan kattitu kittu” song and what part of govinda is sexy!!
LOL LOL LOL!!
just too good!!
You rock man ! I was laughing in my silent office and people started staring at me if something was wrong..
Thalaivaaa! Putting Govinda on GraphJam – what jeeniyass! Thank you for putting Hindi song fundas also, I was missing my 90s addiction to lame Hindi film music just two days ago
Hilarious! Time well spent, I must say
Eanda ungalukku ellam velaindrathey irukaatha??
He do have one fulltime http://www.linkedin.com/in/krishashok
Respect!
ABC, i agree he does have one fulltime work.. i asked why do you guys spend your valuable time by creating the graph and sending this links to others.. Friends are fwding these links to us and they are amused it seems to see your work.. but i dont think something is really great to be appreciated.. its mere a time pass for you guys and waste of time for guys like us.. Instead of speding your valuable time on the net and creating blogs do some stuff which will be useful for your, your family, your state, your country…
My intention was not to blame on you guys but from my point of view surffing net is a mere time pass… I dont want to comment more on this.. i expressed my personal views.. its upto the admin to retain this comment in this page or delete it..
Ashok: Mr xyz, I dont delete comments
Ahhh!! Such a noble thought!! why the anonymity then?
Brilliant! Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! I haven’t laughed like this in a LONG time!
Totally kidilam!!
Finally, it’s time to come out of just reading your posts. This one was tooooo gooooooooooood. Had me ROTFL. And yes, stares in the silent office. But that’s ok, I forwarded it to them all and they did the same too.
Awesome dude!
Its’ lol!!
Good ones…though couldnt crack the sky/world tag team graph. Closest I could think was: “Aasman ke neeche, hum aaj apne peeche” from Guide.
Pls enlighten with correct answer.
Cheers!!
AWESOME !
Seriously amazing ……..i am speechless
it is excellent
loved it
I haven’t laughed this much in ages!!
Great!
Pankaj,
It is “Aaj mein upar, Aasmaan neeche
Aaj mein aage, Zamana hai peeche”
Vikram Trisha stuff was sooper!
ukkarnthu yosipaangalo !!! mudiaylae.. loved wen it started in tamil.. esp vikram, vijay songs with nakka mukka..
PS: pls dont temme its ur second last inspiration to remix internet meme!!!
ROTFL!!! Awesome!
And btw, hi after a long time, I’m back.
Welcome back Sir
As the magic fluid in your (electronic) pen is every ready to spring these delicious surprises on us, I have only this to say:
Ink-ready-ble!
Atrociously funny statistics! Really, Mr Krish, I mean it. Your standard deviation from the usual mode of humour in the blogosphere shall continue to cockle the tickles of our heart.
The hindi songs were just amazing – need some more complex visualization techniques now
anna!! well done… romba nanna irunduthu.. i just loved every bit of it
How dare you make fun of such good music.
Hi Ashok,
Was browsing some sites, when i bumped into this little gem
Check out the 3rd comment, or rather check out the profile picture.
Brilliant aint it?? So the question begs to be asked. Are you Bitangsha Ray in disguise??
hi, it is nice to go through ur blog…and it is well informative too…by the way why don’t you start a blog in your own mother tongue…? as i know it is not a big task….
recently i was searching for the user friendly Indian language typing tool and found .. ” quillpad”. heard that it is much more superior than the Google’s indic transliteration…!? It gives you the option of Rich Text as well as 9 Indian languages…whereas Google is providing only 5 languages and no Rich text option…
It is indeed a pleasure as well as proud moment to express our views in our own mother tongue…and it is our duty too….. so, save, protect, popularize and communicate in our own mother tongue….
try this, http://www.quillpad.in
Jai…. Ho….
Thailaiva! Super!
BTW, the Six-step-guide-for-desi-douchebags-to-avoid-getting-pwned post in the Snack edition is just too good! Unfortunately, can’t leave comments there!
Ah yes. Tumblr does not have comments. I wrote that after being threatened with a lawsuit by a guy who stole content from my blog and posted it without attribution. My crime was asking him politely to attribute now that he knows the original author. His response was to claim that my emails/post comments were “defamation” and therefore grounds for a lawsuit.
@N : magnificent word-play !!
KA’s posts bring out the best creative vein in his readers — limmericks, poems, mathematical humorous prose, you-name-it .i could make a good post, article, or book by collecting my comments in KA’s and others’s blogs !! there is even a blog calssifying commentors, but i forget the name of my class .
Mate, now this post is being used as a forward. Copyright your post, dude!
Well
I do have the Creative Commons license on the sidebar that requests people to attribute back to me, but beyond that, I dont mind.
The email forward is spreading like wildfire! Me got it from 4 diff sources (co-incidence is that all are IT ppl…sign of the ‘bench-y’ times?)
One version had it as ‘Guess the songs from the Pic’ kinda quiz theme
Sadly, no attribute though!
No one is attributing anything. People are just forwarding it as a quiz. I have to show them the actual post to makke them believe that it was yur blogpost. That said, your popularity in my office has skyrocketed.
LOL !!!!!!!!!!!! Hilarious stuff!
Loved the “Things govinda does not care about”
Am blogrolling you!
Bloghopped from Reema’s! You lost your “Best post of the week” by an invisible margin!
ayyyo trauma! how jobless are you?
awesome i say awesome…but how did u find the time for so many
when aashiqui came out, i used to have this theory that nazar and jigar are perpendicular lines..but back in school my classmates thought i was a geek and made fun. i bet those losers have posted nice comments on this blogpost
Govinda also does not care if you bit a chilli my mistake…you could add that in your venn diagram
Outstanding mate. Totally outstanding stuff
rahuljauhari.net
lol
came here thru REema’s
lol@ rajesh khanna algorithm
Hey hi,
just read your blog n couldn stop complimentin.
I must say you hav a great sense of humour n you seem to be Very Innovative by the kindaa stuff you tried by making statistical data.
But being honest i couldn get few of them like those Benny lava, n tamil songs.
But overall it was awsome.
Yes graphjam is addictive and amazing.
I have some less funnier ones here :
http://iyerdeepak.wordpress.com/2009/03/25/graphical-random-stuff/
and some more graphical atyachaar from me :
http://iyerdeepak.wordpress.com/2009/03/26/some-more-graphical-atyachaar/
Haven’t seen such stuff before. Truly amazing.. Govinda’s attributes and Rajesh Khannas’ algorithm are outstanding.

Who are you? Please add me on GTalk.
kiranchaithanya
Hey Krish! Please accept this blog award from me and blog on!!
http://nirmala-km.blogspot.com/2009/03/grattitudegratitude-attitude.html
That’s super cool stuff you got there
Shouldn’t govida’s pant cross the sexiness chart?
nice blog
Highly unrelated, but I thought I should pottu kuduthufy this ‘copy’right issue:
http://www.orkut.co.in/Main#CommMsgs.aspx?cmm=507911&tid=5233517525379503721&kw=kurma&na=1&nst=1
One small correction, though; For the “Things Govinda does not care about”, it is not “your grandmother’s death” (that is actually Karisma’s line) it should actually be “You got a chilli”*
*”Tujhe mirchi lagi to main kya karoon…”
I am going to leave a few lame words…that I enjoyed the graphic representation as much as I enjoyed several other posts of yours!
ROFL!
I was inspired at your art. I too have created a graph jam image and posted the link
An excellent graphical approach to the indian film industry not known to me till date.
Great one! You may also want to take a look at this.I came across an excellent post on plagiarism by old indian music directors.
http://litterateuse.wordpress.com/2009/04/05/share-a-tune-inspired-music-in-indian-films/
Please post more such stuff! This was ROFLMAO!
Hilarious! ROFL!
Amazing stuff!
Your creative content is a breathtaking. In a simple world, ppl can take their time out and have real fun reading your blogs/plogs watever u call them
- spread the word. Though its sad to see ppl not attributing the source.. as i said again in a simple world.
absolutely brilliant!!
Keep up the good work.
Cheers,
Velu
Hey visit my blog!
http://chroniclesofbhargavi.blogspot.com/
ok…this officially makes my week.
the only thing i didn’t get was the foot presents theory of pessimism, though.
The “Veedu varai Uravu” song was from the movie “Paadakaanikkai”
=D a little before my time, but funny as!
After staring at this for a month I have come to the conclusion that you are the greatest man on earth. Ever.
Also: http://thechasingiamb.blogspot.com/2009/04/jalsa-jilpa-graph-jam.html
Plis-pa.. enlighten me on the “party locations”.. idhu kooda puriyama makka irukken
The cult Simbu song from Silambattam – “Where is the party? Enga vootla party..”
You need to put this on a tee. Or make it wall art.
Basically you need to start the jalsa+jilpa range before someone else does
roflmao, seriously man. groovy stuff this is! cheers!
totally awesome stuff… though i understood only the bollywood ones, but they are super duper hilarious… laughing till date

“Hilarious” is an understatement! Too good! Please do not let this be the last of its kind. You must keep doing this for the sake of fans like us
